ARNP – SUBSTANCE ABUSE PSYCH NURSE PRACTITIONER This position is highly responsible for following up on clients who are stable and already on maintenance medications. This person will advocate for clients and interact with clients in a manner that reflects cultural sensitivity. Assure the client’s rights are protected and report any abuse and neglect. Work is performed under the protocol of a Center psychiatrist and is directly supervised by the same. Workload Duties Responsible for caseload Attend Interdisciplinary Treatment Team Meetings (Rounds) weekly and as needed outside to collaborate with the treatment team about patient care Responsible for caseload during evenings via a phone call from nurses. communication with families (when appropriate) Sign out for weekend coverage or vacation coverage consistent with the professional standards. All charting in EMR by end of business each day. Work with adults and adolescents Professional Skills Able to empathically and compassionately interview patients presenting with a SUD/ MH issue using the organizationxe2x80x99s comprehensive psychiatric evaluation Able to elicit medical histories and assess for medical causes of the SUD/ MH issues or for comorbid medical problems that are a result of the SUD/ MH disorder and/or exacerbate the SUD/ MH disorder Utilization of interview, assessment, and diagnostics in the comprehensive treatment of dual-diagnosis patients Able to assess for level of detox and use standard CIWA and COWS for withdrawal severity and then initiate detox treatment Able to prescribe initial psychiatric and detox medications, monitor and document results and side effects, and perform follow-up medication management within the accepted standard of care guidelines.
