The ideal candidate has at least three (3) years postgraduate experience in a primary care setting. New Bedford Community Health (NBCH), is seeking a Medical Director with an interest in working in a fast-paced multidisciplinary Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) located in downtown New Bedford, Massachusetts. You will work to maintain collaborative relationships with staff throughout the Health Center to ensure efficient and effective operations as well as quality care for patients. Your primary care panel will have a focus on Adult Medicine and will include caring for patients with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and latent TB in addition to the usual primary care mix. The Medical Director will work to establish and maintain systems to ensure that patient services, clinical data, and workflows support organizational objectives. You will join a full staff of nurses, CHWs, MAxe2x80x99s, providers, and Ryan White program administers, all committed to serving the diverse and underserved patient populations in New Bedford, including immigrants, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Under the general supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Practitioner will be responsible for: Commitment to providing compassionate and comprehensive outpatient primary care treatment and services related to HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis prevention and treatment. Consultation and collaboration with all levels of the organization and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure patient needs are met. Ensures open lines of communication to, from and within the Department. Active participation as a member of committees as assigned. Attendance of a variety of meetings, discussions, conferences, seminars, and workshops, both within and outside the organization as applicable to own position’s responsibilities. Holding regular department meetings to keep staff informed and receive feedback. Supervision of physicians and mid-level practitioners in Adult Medicine, providing ongoing mentorship and support as needed. Holding staff and peers accountable to quality requirements as well as being a role model for the department. Performance of annual evaluations of department professional providers and peer reviews as required. Ensuring that the department is meeting or exceeding all regulatory and Health Center quality and compliance requirements. Providing continuity of chronic care management including but not limited to well visits, sick visits, hospital follow-ups, immunizations, STI and common infections treatment and education. Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic findings, medical plans and treatment follow-up. Managing complex medical issues within the scope of internal medicine and family medicine practices. Required Education, Skills, & Other Credentials MD/DO Qualifications: Current and unrestricted Massachusetts Medical License Active DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration Board Certification/Board Eligible in: Internal Medicine or Family Medicine AAHIVM Certified or must be willing to obtain within 18 months of hire Current BLS/CPR Certification APRN (NP) Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years post graduate APRN experience Board Certification: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP)/American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Current and unrestricted Massachusetts APRN License Active DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration AAHIVM Certified or must be willing to obtain within 18 months of hire Current BLS/CPR Certification Other Skills & Preferred Qualifications Experience or interest in treating and diagnosing HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases such as Hepatitis C/B, LTBI, and syphilis in an outpatient Primary Care FQHC setting. Comfortable supporting LGBTQIA+ population. Comfortable working with individuals with substance use disorders. Experience providing medication assisted treatment (MAT). Commitment and interest in working with multi-cultural and impoverished populations.
