Location: Chicago, IL Hospital: RUSH University Medical Center Department: IM HEM/ONC APP MSP Work Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0) Shift: Shift 1 Work Schedule: 10 Hr (7:00:00 AM – 5:00:00 PM) Inpatient Hematology Lead Advanced Practice Provider Rush University Medical Center Chicago, IL The Rush University Cancer Center is currently recruiting a Lead Advanced Practice Provider to join their Inpatient Hematology team . This role will be located at Rushxe2x80x99s downtown Chicago campus functioning on a rotating four-day, 10-hour shift schedule. The Inpatient Hematology Lead Advanced Practice Provider will have four direct reports to staff the inpatient Hematology unit seven days per week (days only) alongside a Hematology Hospitalist and a Hematologist on the inpatient service. *Minimum of three years of experience in hematology, or other cancer related specialty, required. APRN candidates must hold acute-care certification. Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a licensed physician assistant (PA) or acute care certified advanced practice nurse (ACNP) who functions as a member of the health care team to provide high quality, comprehensive acute and/or routine medical/surgical care of Rush University Medical Center patients within the scope of practice granted in accordance with the RUMC medical staff bylaws. The APP will promote collaboration between multiple disciplines to ensure cost effective and quality patient care. The individual who holds this position will exemplify the Rush mission, vision and values and act in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines of Rush, including the Rush University Medical Group Customer Service standards. Successful candidates will also meet all other state and federal regulatory practice and accreditation standards. Responsibilities: Clinical xe2x80xa2 Completes and documents an accurate history and physical examination of patients. xe2x80xa2 Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments and develops patient care plans xe2x80xa2 Orders and interprets tests, treatments, and therapies within the scope of practice xe2x80xa2 Prescribes medications, including controlled substances to the extent delegated including non-pharmacologic treatment modalities xe2x80xa2 Orders, interprets, and performs laboratory and other diagnostic tests and procedures. xe2x80xa2 Provides clear, concise, and accurate information in the electronic medical record. xe2x80xa2 Initiate and perform consultations in accordance with Rush rules and regulations xe2x80xa2 Make appropriate referrals to other health care professionals and/or agencies xe2x80xa2 Provides direct patient care in assigned areas, which may be in a hospital or ambulatory setting. Professional xe2x80xa2 Works collaboratively with his/her collaborating/supervising physician, department, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner. xe2x80xa2 Acts as an advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the physician assistant profession xe2x80xa2 Participates in all required provider activities as outlined in the RUMC Medical Staff Bylaws. xe2x80xa2 Integrates evidence based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision making xe2x80xa2 Demonstrates competency in all medical and surgical procedures and skill considered essential in their area of practice xe2x80xa2 Maintains board certification, state licensure, and continuing medical education as outlined by hospital, state, and federal policy. Other information: Required Job Qualifications: xe2x80xa2 Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant Licensure. xe2x80xa2 Current Certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). xe2x80xa2 Degree from an ARC-PA (or predecessor) accredited PA Program. xe2x80xa2 Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Licensure. xe2x80xa2 Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a national certifying organization Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner educational program. xe2x80xa2 The APN’s education and specialty board certification must correlate with the APP’s job role, setting, responsibility and patient population. xe2x80xa2 Master’s or Doctorate degree in nursing. xe2x80xa2 BLS certification. xe2x80xa2 Demonstrates competency in all areas of APP practice including: medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice based learning and improvement, and systems based practice. xe2x80xa2 Skill in preparing and maintaining electronic and paper medical records xe2x80xa2 Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise. xe2x80xa2 Strong work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills. xe2x80xa2 Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with collaborating physician, department, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.
