Place of Performance-Metropolitan Correctional Center 808 Union Street San Diego, CA 92101 Services will be performed in the Health Services DepartmentSchedule-The Nurse Practitioner will normally provide 6 xc2xa0hoursxc2xa0per day, Monday through Friday, 5 days per week, excluding Federal Holidays, subject to change upon institutional needs and emergencies. Work hours will normally be between 07:30-14:00 with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.xc2xa0Education and Experience-The Nurse Practitioner (contractor) must be licensure to practice medicine in the State of California. Providing verification of credentials (education, current licensor/status competency, continuing medical education), and proof of malpractice insurance, as required by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). Must have 1 year family medicine experience or 1 year of urgent care experience.Description of Duties- All duties shall be performed in accordance with standards and methods generally accepted within the fieldof Nurse Practitioner services, and compliance with all Federal and State policy and regulations. The contractor shall adhere to all standards and regulations associated with the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and American Correctional Association Foundation/Core Standards for Adult Correctional Institutions. The contractorxe2x80x99s performance shall be monitored by the Contracting Officerxe2x80x99s Representative (COR). The contractor must have the ability to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. The contractor shall be responsible for, but is limited to:xe2x80xa2 Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate population.xe2x80xa2 Conduct medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory tests, x-ray and other diagnostic testing.xe2x80xa2 Diagnosis and treat patients in an efficient, timely, and professional manner, provide treatment plans and prescribe medications utilizing the Bureau of Prisons formulary.xe2x80xa2 Clinically manage injuries by suturing, splinting, and immobilizingxe2x80xa2 Attend to medical emergencies.xe2x80xa2 Record progress notes, recommend clinically necessary outside consultation, instruct and counsel, andorder or carry out therapy.xe2x80xa2 Emergency consultation to be performed by the contractor in instances where deemed necessary.Perform minor surgery utilizing local anesthesia during consultation visits.xe2x80xa2 Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting,evaluating, and revising program plans.xe2x80xa2 Assists in determining conditions, resources, and policies essential to delivery of the health careservices.xe2x80xa2 Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical,emotional, or mental problems.xe2x80xa2 Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securinghealth histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluationsxe2x80xa2 Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
