We are currently looking for a PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTIONER OR PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT to join our growing team! Hybrid/Remote work is an option for the right candidate The primary role of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants is to provide behavioral health services in a comprehensive community behavioral health setting with individuals with mental health, substance use and intellectual/developmental challenges. Providers should have exceptional customer service to make sure the highest quality work standards are achieved and maintained according to practice policies and procedures. Essential Duties: Provide all aspects of patient psychiatric healthcare, including diagnosis, and treatment of a variety of psychiatric and common medical conditions. Provide direct psychiatric services through initial comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients, including prescribing and administering medications as needed Maintain complete, accurate, timely and confidential documents in appropriate electronic health records for review by a supervisor. Provide consultation and emergency interventions as necessary Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients to add psychiatric expertise to the medical management plan and mitigate any negative impact that behavioral conditions can have on patient overall health and well-being. Handle psychiatric emergencies as needed, including being on-call for additional compensation Communicate with the patientxe2x80x99s primary care provider regarding changes in conditions or potential medication changes. Collaborate with supervisor in regards to particularly complex behavioral/mental conditions. Maintain partnership with supervisor through regular communication, care plan development, medication management, etc. Participate in quality assurance, educational, and professional meetings as assigned Actively participate in regular multi-disciplinary team meetings to assure behavioral health issues considered and addressed for all high risk patients. Qualifications Psychiatric-Mental Health Certification from Accredited Institution required. Masterxe2x80x99s degree or higher in Advanced Practice Registered Nursing (APRN) OR a Masters of Medical Sciences from an Accredited Physician Assistant program Current state Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license, valid and in good standing Nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) or Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority. Experience in outpatient mental health and/or substance use disorder facilities Knowledge of current standards, principles, and practices of psychiatric care Five years of experience as an advanced practitioner Knowledge of developmental and health issues of emerging adults Knowledge of psychotropic medication indications, contraindications, dosing, and side effects Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, methods, issues, and approaches in mental health and substance use disorder Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations as they apply to the practice of medicine in mental health Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of psychiatric care Knowledge of medical terminology Understand and comply with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 Excellent communication skills Ability to work well with a team CPR Certified (or willing to get certification) Preferred: Familiarity with the management of behavioral concerns in patients with developmental delays, cognitive impairment, and/or neurodevelopmental disorders Familiarity with the assessment of self-harm and suicidality, and when appropriate, the need for a higher level of care Familiarity with psychotropic medication therapy and the corresponding evidence base The professionals at Westbrook Health Services believe in promoting the well-being of individuals and families struggling with a wide range of challenges.
